Brian Chase

A skilled problem solver with extensive experience in assessing risks and internal controls, Brian is responsible for overseeing FHLBank Boston’s Internal Audit team and providing an independent and objective assurance function by auditing operating procedures and internal controls to add value and improve our operations.

He assumed his current role as chief audit officer in 2018 and was promoted to senior vice president in 2021.

Prior to joining us in 2014 as vice president, director of internal audit, Brian spent 17 years in various internal audit roles at State Street.

A certified public accountant and certified investments and derivatives auditor, Brian has also earned a  certification in risk management assurance. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Brian received a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in accounting from the University of Massachusetts. 

When he’s not focused on conveying complex audit findings to various stakeholders, Brian likes to spend time with his family enjoying the outdoors and traveling to explore and learn about different cultures and places.
