Affordable Housing Program

In partnership with our members, the Affordable Housing Program supports the development and rehabilitation of stable and affordable rental apartments and for-sale homes throughout New England.

​Fostering Community Development

The Affordable Housing Program (AHP) awards grants and low-cost financing to our members for affordable housing creation and preservation. The program has led to the production or renovation more than 37,000 affordable homes since its inception in 1990. 

Applying for AHP Funding:

Eligibility + Scoring

Both rental and owner-occupied housing may qualify for AHP funding. Members, housing developers, and other community organizations, can learn more about income and scoring criteria, eligible uses of funding, and the AHP Implementation Plan.

​AHP Notice of Changes

FHLBank Boston makes regular updates to the AHP to address community needs. Members can find a summary of relevant information about important deadlines, subsidy limits, the application process, and more in the Notice of Changes.

​Approved AHP Initiatives

Every year, FHLBank Boston allocates millions in grants, loans, and interest-rate subsidies to support affordable housing initiatives in rural and urban areas throughout New England, including apartments for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities, family housing, and supportive housing for homeless individuals and families.
